On the 4th of July, we reluctantly declared independence from our British hosts Maggie and Eric. We miss them already. Hopefully they’ll make the trip across the pond and visit us soon. (Trudy, too).
We were treated to a grand farewell lunch of confit de canard from Leah (the artist) and her husband Norman – it was like Thanksgiving in July.
Our last week in France will be spent roaming the country in our little Peugeot. It gets fifty miles to the gallon on average – but won’t fit all of our luggage.
So I packed two of the large suitcases full of souvenirs and things we don’t need. Before leaving Josselin, we shipped them via La Poste to the hotel in Lyon where we’ll be staying the night before we fly back.
Even with those two big bags out of the way, our car is still stuffed.
This is an unusually short post because we are on the road. There’s been no planning on my part beforehand – I’m deciding where we might go on a whim and booking hotels the night before. I can’t wait to share it with you!
Our stay in Brittany was wonderful. We will be coming back someday.
